One Day Enamel Workshops
April 11 and May 16
I am teaching one day enamel workshops on Sunday, April 11th and Sunday, May 16th from 10am to 6pm.

The course is designed as an introduction to the basic methods of copper enameling.

Enameling is the process of fusing glass powder to metal at very high temperatures (~1500 degrees Fahrenheit) in an electric kiln. I use this process in all my current work. Any one can enamel, no experience required. If you love colour, you will love this class! I will teach how to make basic findings (ear hooks and jump rings) - leave with a beautiful colourful pendant and pair of earrings!

Class begins at 10am this Sunday! Call the studio to reserve your spot by Saturday, April 10th. 647.436.6709

Jewel Envy, 101 Spadina Ave Suite 214

Next class will be a combination Intro/Intermediate Enamelling course, beginning on Thursday March 25th for 8 weeks.

A little news for February
February 1, 2010
We have started discussions, brainstorming and the ideas keep on coming. Members of Jewel Envy are planning a group show, stay tuned for more details. It will probably be taking place later this year - I am sure it will be a rich and wonderful representation of the diverse styles, work processes and concepts of all the jewellers working within our group.

The studio is again at full capacity, with 9 jewellers. I have recently made the switch to full time member and changed benches. I have been working non stop this month, in preparation for an array of shows coming up this spring and summer in Halifax, Ottawa and hopefully a few juried shows in other Canadian cities.

It is going to be a busy year; I cannot wait to show you all the pieces I have been working on.

If you have any requests for commissions, please let me know. I am happy to make anything you have in mind, or work collaboratively on a colourful enamel design if you really like my style.

All the best for February!

-Emily
