Emily Gill grew up in Montreal, Quebec. She attended Concordia University for two years where she studied object and graphic design and developed a strong appreciation for materials and craftsmanship. She transferred to NSCAD University, Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2006 specifically to explore an interest in jewellery making and completed her BFA majoring in Jewellery Design and Metalsmithing in 2009.
Having worked in greenhouses and flower shops for nearly ten years, her jewellery is playful and alive with colour, using various materials, from fabric to enameled copper. Her work informed by a long time curiosity in biology, plant sciences and the natural world. Emily has participated in local shows as well as exhibitions through the Society of North American Goldsmiths and the Enamelist Society. Now living in Toronto, she continues to work out of Jewel Envy Studio.
